He took to Facebook to reveal his decision regarding taking premature retirement. “I have given a three-month notice to the authorities concerned,” he stated.

He was denied entry to the Independence Day event at Punjab Agricultural University by security personnel, leading to the suspension of two officers. He had showed his identity card and an invitation card, but security personnel refused him entry, claiming his name was not on the guest list. The same day, he was transferred.

As Civil Surgeon, he was said to have pulled up a large number of employees of the department. He used to visit the civil hospitals and government health centres early in the morning, and also took action against several illegal ultrasound centres.

Dr Aulakh claimed that those against whom he had taken stern action conspired against him, especially those involved in female foeticide. He added that he had also received a threat from a politician, whom he suspected of effecting his transfer.

“The sad part is that the I have not received any support from the department. I stand by my decision and I prefer not to stay where there is no respect,” he added.

Referring to Ishwar Chandra Nanda’s play titled “Maa da Deputy”, Dr Aulakh said “this deputy” (himself) had given a notice for premature retirement.
