Class VIII student spends a day at Barnala DC’s office
Prisha Jain — a Class VIII student of Sacred Heart Convent School, Barnala — spent a day with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Punamdeep Kaur at her office in Barnala today.
Prisha had visited the office as part of an endeavour of the Barnala DC to channelise the youth’s energy and acquaint them with the working of the government at a young age. The DC interacted with Prisha on some topics and explained her about the working of the district administration. She has also planned to hold more such interactions with the students soon.
While sharing her experience, Prisha said the meeting had given her a vision to pursue further and she was thankful to the DC for giving her the opportunity. She said, “She aspires to be an upright person and wishes to travel the world.”
The DC said youngsters could save the environment by becoming the torch-bearer of nature conservation and laying emphasis on ‘reuse, recycle and reduce’ technique to combat the growing piles of garbage.
Discussing the problem of garbage piles and use of plastic, she encouraged Prisha to promote and ensure segregation of wet and dry garbage at her own house as well as in her neighbourhood. She added that she Prisha could rope in her classmates as well.
Sharing her journey of being an IAS, the DC encouraged Prisha to follow her dreams. She said that before being an officer, one should first be a compassionate human being.
Giving a warm send off to Prisha and her teacher Beenu Dhawan, the DC reiterated the need to socially sensitise youngsters.
