Chandigarh, June 16

On Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s decision to give a clean chit to Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu and senior officials in the ‘Fateh’ kit procurement ‘scam’, AAP senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema said it proved the involvement of the CM, too.

Cheema asked Capt Amarinder why the government had sacked Neeraj Singla, Director (Finance) of the National Health Mission, if there was no scam in the procurement process. He said the Congress government had awarded the tender of ‘Fateh’ kits to a garment manufacturing company, which did not have any licence to manufacture medical equipment.

Cheema alleged the owners of the company were close to the Chief Minister which was why the government had repeatedly issued tenders and bought kits worth Rs 837 each at a hefty price of Rs 1,338. Commenting on the Chief Minister’s defence of the Punjab Government, Cheema said the government was involved in all wrongdoings during its tenure.
