The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, on Monday hit out at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, accusing him of misusing public funds to undertake repeated foreign tours under the guise of attracting investment.

Bajwa underscored that Mann had embarked on yet another 10-day visit to Japan, supposedly to woo investors.

He pointed out that the CM Mann had already travelled to several countries, including Germany and Australia, on similar pretexts, yet no tangible investment outcomes have emerged from any of these trips.

He demanded that the Aam Aadmi Party government present concrete figures of foreign investment secured through these extensive tours, asserting that people deserved transparency.

Bajwa reminded the public of Mann’s earlier claim of a major BMW investment during his Germany visit, which was later discredited. According to Bajwa, such misleading announcements had eroded public trust in the government’s overseas endeavours. The senior Congress leader further warned that Punjab’s economic situation was deteriorating rapidly, a crisis he attributed to the AAP government’s financial mismanagement.

He argued that even routine administrative operations were being sustained through heavy borrowing while the state’s outstanding debt continued to spiral.
