In view of the upcoming Budget session of the state Vidhan Sabha, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has convened a meeting of party’s Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs on Wednesday.

Official sources said the meeting had been called by the CM to take suggestions for improving the state’s finances and update the MPs regarding various schemes and projects being undertaken with various ministries at the Centre. PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar and other senior leaders of the party are expected to be present at the meeting.

In the last few days, the CM has been holding pre-budget meetings with MLAs and other party leaders.

The issues likely to be discussed include relief to farmers for not burning paddy residue, reduction of tax rate for diary cooperatives, settlement of food cash credit account of Rs31,000 crore, establishment of PGI satellite centre in Ferozepur, second AIIMS, fixing prices of buprenorphine, release of Rs 1,000 crore for loss due to rains and setting up an institute to promote Punjabi. —TNS
