The Punjab Government on Friday announced that all state entities will start dealing in new file work only on eOffice from next month, a step towards digital revolution.
This was announced by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh while chairing a meeting of the Board of Governors of the Punjab State e-Governance Society (PSeGS) to review the status of various innovative projects being undertaken by the society.
It was also announced that all documents issued by the seva kendras will be digitally pushed to the DigiLocker of the citizens, to enable them anytime and anywhere access.
The PSeGS is managing 520 seva kendras in the state for delivering more than 200 services to around 30,000 citizens daily. All important services, including various kinds of certificates and licences, are delivered through seva kendras. The government is also bringing the services of the Revenue and Transport Departments on the seva kendra platform.
The society has created state-level applications on e-Seva, Debt Relief and PM-Kisan, bringing down pendency from a whopping 23 per cent to only 1.5 per cent.
Additional Chief Secretary-cum-PSeGS vice-chairman Vini Mahajan told the CM that the society had a separate team of dedicated professionals, which was providing IT consultation to other departments and had helped create state-level applications like Punjab State Development Tax and Smart Village. The team has also supported the Revenue Department in bringing all land records on the Cloud platform.
Punjab Chief Secretary-cum-Senior vice-chairman, PSeGS, Karan Avtar Singh apprised the CM that the society was working on implementing enterprise architecture in the state and a policy in this regard had been drafted. All departments will be integrated via micro services and will maintain a single source of truth of their databases, he added. More than 1,35,000 e-files had already been created in eOffice by more than 8,500 users.
