The Congress on Friday announced the candidature of party leader Bharat Bhushan Ashu for the upcoming byelection to the Ludhiana West constituency. In December last year, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had quashed an FIR against Ashu in a transportation tender scam. However, the ED is investigating a money laundering case linked to the scam.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
