“Scales are tilting in favour of the Congress in the run-up to the 2027 Assembly poll,” said Warring.

Accompanied by Punjab Co Affairs In- charge Alok Sharma, Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa and several senior leaders, the PCC chief said despite abuse of government machinery by AAP, the Congress was able to secure around 60 per cent seats in the panchayat elections and has shown good performance in civic poll.

Sharing the results of civic bodies, he said, “In Amritsar, the Congress won 43 out of 85 seats. In Phagwara, the party secured a majority with 25 out of 50 seats. The Congress demonstrated its strength in Ludhiana by winning 31 out of 95 seats. In Patiala, AAP’s manipulation restricted us to contest only 26 out of 60 seats.”

“The party won five out of eight wards in Talwandi Sabo, eight out of 13 in Bhogpur, nine out of 13 in Shahkot, six out of 11 in Nadala, and seven out of 13 wards in Dakha,” he added.

The people had opted for the Congress instead of the BJP in urban civic bodies, said Warring. “In Ludhiana, the Congress led BJP in five constituencies with a margin of 51,000 votes, significantly improving its position compared to the 2024 General Elections where the party trailed by 49,000 votes,” he added.

The Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa said, “AAP has not won any poll. In fact, they have stolen results by using brute force. AAP won seats by misusing government machinery, police force and goons to stop voters from exercising their franchise.
