Congress to launch door-to-door drive in Punjab

Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Sunday said his party would soon launch a statewide door-to-door campaign with an aim to protect interests of farmers, Dalits, labourers and small traders.

Warring, however, did not disclose the launch date of the party’s public outreach drive.

He also sought the registration of a case against AAP leader Manish Sisodia over his Sam Daam, Dand, Bhed remark.

Sisodia, who is AAP’s state in-charge, had landed in a controversy over remarks made during a workshop of the party’s women volunteers, where he allegedly urged workers to use “all means” to win the 2027 Assembly poll. “We will submit memoranda to all deputy commissioners and SSPs on Monday, seeking the registration of a case against Sisodia,” Warring said.

He was accompanied by Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly Partap Singh Bajwa and former minister Razia Sultana.

Warring also denied any factionalism in the Punjab Congress and said personal differences always exist in an organisation and his party was no different.

Apparently referring to the political slugfest between ruling AAP and the BJP, Bajwa said the state government was “trying to rejuvenate BJP in rural Punjab as both parties were products of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS)”.
