Former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi today claimed that AAP will face a major defeat in the Barnala Assembly byelection as “it has already suffered a split in the constituency”. The party had expelled its district president Gurdeep Singh Bath, who is now contesting the byelection as an Independent candidate.
Campaigning in the favour of Congress candidate Kuldeep Singh Dhillon in the city, Channi claimed that he (Dhillon) would win the seat with a big margin. He claimed that people were fed up with the functioning of the AAP government. He added that the law and order in the state had been deteriorating.
