The Kirti Kisan Forum emphasised that only cooperative farming can help farmers and economy to stand on its own feet.

During the meeting, it was pointed out that new generation of farmers should leave the race to go abroad and should take up cooperative farming and sell their produce in the domestic market.

Self-employment would not only bring economic prosperity but would also teach Punjabis to lead a healthier life, said members of the forum.

Swaran Singh Boparai and Rameshinder Singh of the forum urged the state government to adopt a model of cooperative farming.
