A day after transferring two of its staffers, the SGPC has constituted a panel to enquire into the episode of felicitation of a tainted policeman which had created a row.

The sub-committee includes senior vice-president Rajinder Singh Mehta and members Amarjit Singh and Mohan Singh whereas deputy secretary Sakattar Singh will coordinate the panel.

The SGPC had invited criticism after photographs of a suspended Inspector General of Police being honoured went viral on the social media. The manager of Golden Temple Manjinder Singh Mand and additional manager Gura Singh were transferred to Kurukshetra and Hapur, respectively, as a punishment.

However, a soft approach was witnessed in the case of SGPC member Bhagwant Singh Sialka who had submitted a written apology to the Akal Takht.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
