The police have continued their drive against drug traffickers across Fazilka district. The Wahabwala police today froze the properties of suspected drug traffickers in the villages under their jurisdiction. After getting clearance from competent authorities via an order dated July 31, the police today reached Mehrana village to freeze the properties of Deepak Kumar, alias Deepu. They said he had bought the properties with drug money. The police said the value of the seized property has been assessed at Rs 20.19 lakh.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Balluana) Sukhwinder Singh Brar and Wahabwala police station incharge Sunil Kumar were present as cops pasted the legal declaration notices about the properties.

The police team also visited a ‘Dhani’ (cluster of houses) near Sitto Gunno village to freeze a car worth Rs 7 lakh owned by Naveen Kumar, alias Naveena. The police said he had bought the vehicle using drug money.

The police said permission for the action under Section 68F of the NDPS Act was taken from New Delhi-based authorities.

Earlier, properties belonging to drug traffickers had been seized in Ghuriana, Abohar, Fazilka and Patrewala. The police said the properties of other drug traffickers would also be seized soon.
