Councillors protest lack of cleanliness in Muktsar

Raising concern over the lack of cleanliness and sewage overflow in some parts of the town, municipal councillors of the Congress, SAD, BJP, ruling AAP and some social activists lodged a protest by blocking the road at Kotkapura Chowk in Muktsar town today.

Some municipal councillors claimed the officials concerned were not even taking their phone calls. “The situation has turned grim and it is very difficult for the residents to come out of their houses. However, nothing is being done on the ground,” said municipal councillor Gurpreet Singh.

Later, Gurwinder Singh Virk, naib-tehsildar, Muktsar, visited the protest site where protesters submitted a memorandum to him. He assured them that he would try to resolve these issues after a discussion with the DC.
