According to the information, Rambaran (55) and his wife Murti Devi (50), residents of Dhani Bashesharnath, who used to work as watchpersons in a house on Sitto Road, were returning by a cycle-rickshaw when a truck coming from the wrong direction hit them and fled.

Seeing the injured lying on the road, passersby halted, spoke to them, and informed their families. The couple was taken to the civil hospital. They were given first aid there and referred to a Bathinda hospital for further treatment; however, they died on the way.

The police said a case has been registered against the unidentified truck driver, and an investigation into the case was on.
