The Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, Faridkot, today told the police to file the final reports of the probes conducted by the special investigation teams in the Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan firing cases of October 2015.

The order came after all accused in the Behbal Kalan firing case, except former DGP Sumedh Saini, today appeared before the court, urging it to direct the police to file the status reports in both cases as these were interlinked.

A week after the Punjab and Haryana High Court had disposed of a bunch of pleas filed by the accused in these cases, they appeared before the court on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, HS Saini, counsel for the accused, said as per the HC orders, the further proceedings in the trial court would be held after the completion of probes in both incidents as these were interlinked. “The trial will be conducted simultaneously in these cases.”

However, the prosecution side claimed that the probes were nearing completion and the final police reports in both incidents would be submitted shortly. The court has adjourned the case till August 20, directing the police to file the final probe reports and arguments for the purpose of charges against the accused.
