Sangrur, January 19

Sangrur Sessions Judge RS Rai today suspended the sentence of imprisonment for two years awarded to Cabinet Minister Aman Arora by a Sunam court on December 21, 2023, till the final disposal of appeal.

The sentence has been suspended subject to Arora furnishing a personal bond of Rs 40,000 with one surety in the amount to the satisfaction of the trial court/duty magistrate within one week from the date of passing the order.

Yogesh Gupta, the counsel for Arora, said the court would hear the arguments of the parties on January 24 on the application for stay of conviction moved by Arora.

Arora was convicted and sentenced to two-year imprisonment by a Sunam court in a case filed against him and nine others by his brother-in-law Rajinder Deepa in January 2009.

On December 21, 2023, Arora and eight others, including his mother Parmeshwari Devi, were convicted and sentenced to two years in jail for allegedly assaulting Rajinder.

Deepa had alleged that Arora and nine other persons had entered his house at Sunam forcibly and beaten him up.
