Mansa, May 30
The CPI-ML Liberation today staged a protest and burnt effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mansa district over the Centre’s alleged failure to contain the second Covid wave that has “claimed many lives and laid bare the ill-preparedness and complacent approach of the government”. Party leaders said “PM Modi must step down on moral grounds”. They also said the party had been quite actively supporting the farmers’ agitation against three farm laws and continue to strengthen the movement till its reaches its logical conclusion. The protest call was given on the completion of seven years of the BJP-led NDA government.
Rajwinder Rana, state committee member of the party said, “A case must be registered against the government as patients died due to lack of oxygen, ventilators, shortage of beds and medical care. The government is responsible for not providing medical facilities which led to many deaths. PM Narendra Modi must step down on moral grounds.”
Narinder Kaur Burj Hamira, another leader, said, “Taking advantage of the lockdown in the first wave, the Centre implemented anti-farmer and anti-labour laws and privatized public sector enterprises to favour big corporates. Prices of diesel and petrol have also been hiked exponentially.”
