Battling odds, two siblings belonging from a migrant family of Kothe Sran village in Handiaya area here have secured admission at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya here after clearing mandatory tests.
Sons of a small time vegetable cultivator, the duo has done their family proud by bagging admission in one of the prestigious schools of the district.
Deputy Commissioner Tej Partap Singh Phoolka felicitated the brothers by giving them motivational books and stationery.
Suraj had cleared Punjab State Talent Search Exam (PSTSE) and availed himself of scholarship by clearing National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) test.
Suraj said his teachers at a government school at Dhanaula Khurd guided him to secure admission in Navodaya Vidyalaya. He said he wanted to pursue higher studies in science and wished to excel in this field, whereas Manpreet wanted to be an engineer.
