Farmer Amrinder Singh (40), who ended his life at the Singhu border near the main stage by consuming a poisonous substance on Saturday, had left his village and started living in a Sirhind colony after a murder case was registered against him.
SHO, Amloh police station, said in 2014, a case under the NDPS Act was registered against him. He and his wife were also booked under Section 302 of the IPC in Mansa and were wanted in the case. They left Fatehgarh Sahib after the murder case was registered, the SHO said. His mother said Amrinder was at the dharna site for the past 40 days. — OC
