Even before the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) appointed former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia as Punjab affairs incharge and former minister Satyendar Jain as co-incharge, the two leaders had been camping in the state and looking after the functioning of several departments and implementation of government policies.

Their appointment clearly indicated that power would now flow through them, said party sources, adding that it must be seen what role they would play in the government and party hierarchy.

The announcement was made by Sandeep Pathak, a co-incharge of the state party unit till now. The party has announced that they are expected to be present full-time in the state till the conclusion of the 2027 Assembly elections.

Their appointment comes at a time when several incidents of differences between Pathak and his team with some MLAs have surfaced.

The amendments as regards the constitution of school management committees and approval by the Punjab Council of Ministers today are brainchild of Sisodia, who is concentrating his energies on the Education Department.

Earlier this week, he held a meeting with party volunteers and told them that they would play a decisive role in the functioning of government schools by getting involved in management committees.

“We will accelerate ‘badalta Punjab’. The results of past three years are now clearly visible. My aim is to ensure that every individual feels that Punjab is changing for the better. We will now talk of employment, education and development and curbing drug menace and crime,” said Sisodia.
