Delhi-bound train delayed by 3 hours

The Delhi-Sarai Rohilla-Abohar-Sriganganagar-Bikaner superfast express was held up at Srikaranpur station for about three hours due to engine power failure. The train was able to continue its journey after another engine was arranged from Sriganganagar. The engine failure caused inconvenience to the passengers. This is the second such incident this year, said the passengers.

As per information, the train left Sriganganagar this morning and reached Srikaranpur at 8.34 am; however, due to a technical fault in the power of the engine, it could not depart. The loco-pilot tried to start the train twice; however, he failed due to power failure and jammed brakes. Higher authorities were informed about the problem, and another engine for the train was requested.

As a passenger train was already running on the track, it took the substitute engine about 2.25 hours to arrive. After this, the erring engine had to be detached from the train and moved to a different platform to make way for the other engine.

Station Superintendent Ramesh Chand Meena said due to a power failure, the Bikaner-Sarai Rohilla train was able to depart at 11.36 am instead of the scheduled 8.36 am. He said the power failure of the train was the cause of the delay.

Meanwhile, volunteers of the Aasra Charitable Trust provided tea and snacks to the passengers. Convener Naresh Parnami said that after getting information about the problem in the train, cold water, tea, biscuits, and other items were served to give some relief to the passengers. — OC
