Deportation from US: Six fresh FIRs lodged, 7 travel agents named
The Punjab Police on Monday announced to have registered six fresh FIRs and booked seven immigration consultants-cum-travel agents by name, besides their unidentified accomplices, on the statement of six illegal migrants recently deported from the US.
Earlier, two FIRs were lodged in which four accused were booked. In all, eight FIRs have been registered so far in which 12 accused have been booked. None of them has been arrested so far.
Five accused agents, namely Mukesh Munjal, Surjit Singh, Anil Batra, Sumit and Rana, have their offices in Kurukshetra and Karnal in Haryana. Dharminder operates from New Delhi, while the remaining six agents (Manjinder, Gurkirat, Akesh, Mangu, Navdeep Singh and Satnam Singh) operated from Punjab.
The name of a Pakistani agent identified as “Doctor” operating in Mexico has also surfaced.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said the action followed the recording of the statement of the eight out of the 30 US deportees, by the special investigation team (SIT). The SIT is headed by ADGP (NRI Affairs) Praveen Sinha. ADGP (Internal Security) Shive Kumar Verma, IGP (Provisioning) Dr S Boopathi and DIG (Border Range) Satinder Singh are its other members.
Police officials said in Amritsar, Ajaideep Singh filed a complaint against Mukul Munjal of Ajrawar village in Kurukshetra, Haryana. He alleged that Mukul duped him of Rs 45 lakh by promising to send him to the USA. Instead, Mukul sent Ajaideep to Guyana on a 3-month tourist visa, from where he was sent to Ecuador and other countries via Mexico only to be caught at the US border.
Ramandeep Singh of Rahon filed a complaint against Sahil Kumar Luthra for duping him. Sahil promised to send him to the USA by charging Rs 40 lakh. Ramandeep was then taken to The Bahamas, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico and Tijuana and he was eventually caught at the Mexico-US border. In Kapurthala, Gurpreet Singh filed a complaint against Manjinder Singh and Dharminder. Manjinder and Dharminder got him a 3-month visa for Guyana. He later travelled through Bolivia, Colombia, Brazil and Panama. He was arrested at the USA border.
Gurvinder Singh of Patiala filed a complaint against Surjit Singh of Chandigarh Colony in Karnal, Haryana, and accomplices Anil Batra, Sumit and Rana. Surjit Singh arranged Gurvinder Singh’s flight from Mumbai followed by a series of arduous journeys through several countries in South America, eventually leading to the US border. During that journey, his passport was taken by Rana, another accomplice of Surjit Singh.
