A college teachers’ body has written to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, alleging that the Higher Education Department failed to act upon a probe report pertaining to the hiring of “ineligible candidates” against posts of principal in state colleges.

In a representation to the CM, the Association of United College Teachers of Punjab and Chandigarh have said that the Director (Higher Education) had constituted a Committee in August 2022 to investigate the appointment of eight principals working in state colleges. The committee was asked to submit its findings within 15 days but the report was never made public.

The teachers’ body said the probe report clearly stated that all eight principals “did not fulfil the eligibility criteria”.
