Moga, November 24
Even as the Haryana Government has announced to seal its interstate borders with Punjab in view of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ programme of farmers on November 26 and 27, the All Indian Kisan Sangharsh Committee (AIKSC) has announced that their preparations are in full swing and their protest in Delhi will continue till the Union Government accedes to their demands.
Their main demands include the repeal of the three central farm Acts and the withdrawal of the Electricity Bill-2020.
The committee has asked farmers from all over India to march to Delhi to press their demands. They appealed to other sections of society to step forward and support the “anna daatas”.
Sukhdev Singh Kokri, general secretary, BKU (Ekta), has claimed that thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and other states are moving towards Delhi from various sides through different modes of transport. They were also carrying along beddings, heavy woolens, ration and water tankers.
The BKU (Ekta), which is a part of the All Indian Kisan Sangharsh Committee, has condemned the ‘repression’ of BJP government in Haryana, which has ordered to seal its borders with Punjab and has arrested/detained at least 31 activists of various farm unions during the past 24 hours. “The arrests of farm leaders will not deter us from going to Delhi,” he said, while demanding that the interstate borders be opened.
Many farm unions today announced that if the Haryana Government will not allow them to go to Delhi, they will block all highways and will not allow traffic to move towards Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, J&K and other states.
The farm unions condemned the Union Government and the Haryana Government for “making an excuse of Covid-19” to thwart the fundamental right of citizens to protest.
