The court today rejected the regular bail application of former Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and Daljit Singh Gilzian, the nephew of former minister and Congress leader Sangat Singh Gilzian, in a corruption case.

The Vigilance Bureau (VB) had registered a case of corruption against Dharamsot, who was the Social Welfare and Forest Minister in the Amarinder Singh-led government, while Gilzian was the Forest Minister in the Charanjit Singh Channi-led government. Daljit allegedly used to issue instructions directly to the officials of the department for his personal interests. A forest contractor, Harmohinder Singh Hammi, was arrested earlier in the case. On July 13, the VB held Daljit, who allegedly acted as a middleman and collected “ill-gotten money” from contractors.
