Senior IPS officer of Punjab cadre Dinkar Gupta today took charge as the Director General of the anti-terror federal probe agency NIA, which was formed after the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai.
Officials in the NIA said, Gupta took charge from Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Kuldiep Singh, who had been holding additional responsibility of the NIA chief since May last year after the retirement of YC Modi.

Immediately after taking charge of the office, Gupta said, “I shall do my best to fulfil the mandate given to the NIA for expeditious investigation and prosecution of offences relating to terrorism, a menace that affects the security and integrity of the country.”
