Moga, September 16

A man (25) working as a disc-jockey (DJ) was allegedly murdered in a marriage reception party at Kaleke village in Baghapurana subdivision of the district on Tuesday evening.

Identified as Avtar Singh, he got into a scuffle with a resident after the latter told him to play music post 9.30 pm in violation of the local administration’s order.

The accused, Gindi, outraged after being turned out of the ceremony returned along with his associates armed with swords and sticks, and attacked Avtar, leaving him seriously injured on the spot.

Avtar was rushed to the district hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries in the wee hours today.

Gindi, Davinder Singh, Simarjit Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Amandeep Singh and Sukhjinder Singh, all residents of Kaleke village, have been booked under Section 302 of the IPC.

Further probe is underway.
