The healthcare services were badly hit today across Punjab as the doctors remained on strike in protest against the 6th Pay Commission recommendations, including delinking of non-practising allowance from the basic pay.

Protest marches and dharnas were held in all hospitals at the district and subdivision level, community health centres and medical colleges. Emergency services and Covid-related work were exempted from the strike. The doctors are also planning mass resignations against the pay panel recommendations. — TNS
