As Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has written to the state Election Commission to hold elections to the five municipal corporations and 42 Nagar Councils by the December-end, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has urged that the elections should not be held during the martyrdom fortnight of the four Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri.

Akali leader Dr Daljit Cheema said the martyrdom fortnight was observed from December 15 to 31 and millions of devotees visit religious places to pay their respects to the Sahibzadas and their grandmother.
