Double celebration of Lohri at GRD College

In a remarkable display of cultural unity and social awareness, former Union Minister Som Parkash and his wife Anita Som Parkash celebrated the Lohri festival in honour of 1,100 newly born girls in Onkar Nagar, Phagwara, emphasising the importance of gender equality.

Simultaneously, G.R.D. Co-Educational College in Phagwara celebrated the festival with great zeal and cultural fervor. The event was attended by the college’s chairman, U.C. Saroya, his wife, and trust secretary Tara Chand Chumber, who conveyed their warm Lohri greetings to the students and staff.

On this occasion, Chairman Saroya inaugurated three key initiatives aligned with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Principal Gurjeet Kaur was also honoured for her successful implementation of the NEP 2020 curriculum, as mandated by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The vibrant celebration included the traditional lighting of the Lohri bonfire, with students performing folk songs, making the event a joyful and unforgettable one for all involved.
