‘Drunk’ SHO enters Mansa gurdwara, beats up staff, suspended

The SHO of Boha town of Mansa has been suspended. He entered a gurdwara under the influence of alcohol and beat up and abused sevadars. People of guru ghar staged a protest calling this action of the SHO as sacrilege.
After this, DSP Gurpreet Singh Gill reached the spot and took stock of the incident. He assured the people that action would be taken against the SHO concerned.
The Senior Superintendent of Police of Mansa suspended the SHO. This has been confirmed by DSP, Budhlada.
Gurdwara Management Committee chairman Bhura Singh and Gurtej Singh said around 12 o’clock last night, the SHO entered the gurdwara by jumping over the wall and started abusing and beating up people.
The Shiromani Akali Dal condemned the misconduct by Boha SHO.
Senior Akali Dal leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said, “It is shocking to witness a drunk policeman jumping the wall of a gurdwara in uniform with weapons and shoes.”
He said that after entering the gurdwara, the SHO started hurling abuses at the ‘sevadars’ and thrashed them mercilessly.
