Employees of the Punjab Education Department, who have been demanding the regularisation of their jobs, stopping salary deductions and wage increases, launched a pen-down strike last week.
The Democratic Teachers Front (DTF) Punjab expressed its full support for their cause today. According to sources, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and Mid-Day Meal employees had long been raising these demands.
Vikramdev Singh, sate president of DTF Punjab, stated that if the issue remained unresolved despite repeated appeals, the employees would take more stringent actions.
The strike followed a recent meeting between the employees and Finance Minister Harpal Cheema, where Cheema assured that the issues would be addressed within 15 days.
