Earlier, Lakhwinder Singh, his brother Satnam Singh of Dullapur Keri and Balwinder Singh of Pakki village were held for facilitating videography of the fields located near the fencing to drug smugglers, two months ago, and assisting them in receiving a consignment from across the border from February 7 to 8 in Hindumalkot area. After interrogation of the suspected contacts, the police had reportedly carried out raids to nab Amandeep Singh in a village near Ferozepur, Sona Singh, alias Pamma in Chak Khiwa Ghubaya in Fazilka, Jaswant Singh, alias Mistry, Rinku and another person of Chak Baggewala in Mamdot tehsil. All of them were missing from their homes and potential hideouts. They had allegedly reached Dullapur Keri village on February 7 and escaped after collecting five packets, each containing 1-kg heroin, reportedly thrown over the fencing by Pakistan smugglers in the field located near the BSF’s Madanlal post. The sixth packet that reportedly hit the fencing and fell in the field was seized by the BSF team.

The wanted smugglers were not found during raids, but a list of their acquaintances had been prepared to monitor their activities.
