Chandigarh, February 5
The Education Department’s e-Punjab web portal has been down for almost 10 days now, which has literally paralysed the department’s activities — from the approval of leave of staff to updating students’ academic records.
The situation became hopeless today as it was the last date for uploading the records of pre-board exam results of students of Classes VIII, X and XII, but nothing could be done due to the dysfunctional portal. The marks of the pre-board examination of the Classes VIII, X and XII are updated online, based on which the assessment marks of the students are given by the Punjab School Education Board.
Apart from that the process of approving long medical leave, child-care leave and foreign leave of the staff, including teachers, school heads and non-teaching employees, is done through the portal only. Under the ‘Samrath’ project, marks are also uploaded through it after evaluating the performance of the students. Besides this, the daily attendance of children is also uploaded on e-Punjab. Director General, School Education, Vinay Bublani said they were in the process of strengthening the portal and the server was being updated.
