EC seeks panel of 3 officers for Ludhiana police chief post ahead of bypoll
The Election Commission has requested a panel of three eligible officers for consideration for the post of Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, ahead of the Ludhiana West bypoll scheduled for June 19.
In a letter addressed to the Additional Secretary, Home Affairs Department, the EC has asked that the panel include officers of appropriate seniority and experience, in line with prescribed norms.
It further stated that the officers should be free from any encumbrances or administrative constraints, such as involvement in election-related duties, vigilance inquiries, or disciplinary proceedings.
Punjab Chief Electoral Officer C Sibin said that this is a routine procedure ahead of elections. “This is done in case the Election Commission of India wants to replace any officer. A list of available officers should be ready with them,” he said.
