Education Dept in spot as 57 staffers ‘shifted’ on fake orders
The School Education Department has landed in a spot after 57 clerks-cum-data entry operators and sewadars were reportedly transferred based on fraudulent transfer orders.
The fake directives, which were circulated widely on the social media for over three weeks, led to district and school-level officials executing unauthorised transfers.
Sources said it was only on February 25 that senior officials found that the orders were fake. However, mistaking them for genuine directives, several district education officers (DEOs) had begun implementing the transfers and relocating employees, said the sources.
On Wednesday, the Director, School Education Department, issued an urgent letter to all DEOs, warning them against acting on the misleading orders, which were ostensibly issued on February 2. The Director emphasised that only orders officially communicated through designated email channels should be followed.
The Director further urged officials to exercise vigilance and verify the authenticity of any such directives before taking action. The authorities have been instructed to prioritise official communications and report any suspicious activity to the department without delay.
The sources said officials were investigating the source of the fraudulent orders.
