Elderly Muktsar farmers too leave for Capital

Muktsar, February 11

A number of elderly farmers too have left from Muktsar for Delhi for a protest against the Centre. Some of them had gone to Delhi borders in protest against the three farm laws in 2020 too.

Farmer Inder Singh (88) from Doda village said, “I have lived my life and am ready to sacrifice the remaining part of it for the future of my family. The government may use its might, but our group will reach Delhi. We are not going to fight with the government, but to raise our genuine demands, which are still not accepted.”

Similarly, another elderly farmer Major Singh from Dhulkot village said, “We are prepared for six months and taking along fridges and air coolers as well. We have prayed to God before leaving for Delhi and nobody can stop us now.”

Nearly 30 tractor-trailers today left from Doda for Delhi. Further, some farmers from Fazilka district too joined them. Some farmers had even set up nets on their tractor-trolleys and made these mosquito-proofs.

Meanwhile, the road blockade by some farmers on the Malout-Delhi road near Lambi village here entered the third day today.
