Delhi’s Food Supply, Industry, Environment and Forest Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has asked the Congress leadership, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, to break silence on the life sentence handed to Sajjan Kumar by the Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday.

Sirsa expressed surprise at the Congress leadership’s “studied silence” on the issue, particularly when the entire country has welcomed the court decision to sentence Sajjan Kumar to life imprisonment.

“It is shocking that the Congress leadership has remained silent on this matter. While the nation is celebrating the sentencing of Sajjan Kumar, the Congress leadership, including the Gandhi family, has failed to address the issue,” he said.

Sirsa went on to suggest that the silence of Congress leaders indicated their complicity. “This proves that the Congress leadership, including the Gandhi family, was hand in glove with those who orchestrated and carried out the attacks against the Sikh community,” he said.

He emphasised his personal commitment in ensuring that all those responsible for the violence against Sikhs were brought to justice. “I have been working tirelessly from day one to make sure the guilty are punished for their crimes. I will not rest until everyone involved is behind bars,” Sirsa said.

He said, “I thank PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their efforts in re-constituting the SIT, which has played a key role in ensuring justice to the Sikh community.”
