Channi said the recent violence in Uttar Pradesh had shaken the conscience of one and all. “It was all the more painful that our ‘annadatas’ (farmers) have lost lives in this unfortunate act while protesting peacefully against the farm laws,” he observed.

Seeking Prime Minister’s personal intervention, Channi said the faces of real culprits behind the “barbaric act should be exposed, howsoever influential or well-connected they may be”. He urged the Prime Minister for expeditious justice to the families of farmers who had lost their lives in the incident.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister OP Soni besides Cabinet ministers Brahm Mohindra, Manpreet Singh Badal, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, Vijay Inder Singla, Randeep Singh Nabha, Raj Kumar Verka, Sangat Singh Gilzian, Pargat Singh, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and Gurkirat Singh Kotli.

Cabinet pays tribute

The Channi-led Cabinet on Monday observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to farmers killed at Lakhimpur Kheri. The Council of Ministers resolved that justice be delivered to the victims.
