Punjab Gau Sewa Commission chairman Ashok Singla visited the Krishna Gau Gaushala in Phagwara to assess the situation following the death of 24 cows at the facility on December 8.
During his visit, Singla met Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Navneet Kaur Bal and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Jashanpreet Singh at the gaushala. He urged them to take the necessary steps to ensure the protection and well-being of the cows.
Hindu leaders Inderjit Karwal (Shiv Sena Punjab) and Gurdeep Saini (Shiv Sena UBT) also met with the chairman and briefed him on the current situation at the gaushala. Speaking to the media, Ashok Singla stated that after discussions with local Hindu leaders and Krishna Gaushala president Rakesh Gosain, he was told that the local police had conducted a thorough investigation into the deaths. The leaders expressed satisfaction with the impartiality and resolution provided by the police in the matter.
Singla also interacted with the gaushala staff, advising them on technical aspects and precautions related to the fodder provided to the cows.
During his visit, local leaders raised concerns about a nearby garbage dump, which they said compromised the sanctity of the gaushala. ADC Navneet Kaur Bal assured them that the local administration would clear the dump promptly.
The visit highlighted the importance of maintaining proper facilities and taking preventive measures to safeguard cattle in gaushalas.
