Barnala, June 6
After the intervention of the police, getting Covid vaccine has become easier in Barnala. From making seating arrangements to ensuring distribution of tokens, cops are doing everything to ensure vaccination is conducted in a smooth manner.
Earlier, residents were complaining that influential were getting preference. “The intervention of cops has made a big difference. Earlier, there were no arrangements for people at vaccination centres and huge crowds posed a risk of infection,” said a resident at a vaccination centre.
The Health Department had started vaccination at Government High School for Boys near the Barnala Civil Hospital a few days ago, but since there was no authority managing the crowd, there was utter chaos.
“After getting information about lack of facilities and that influential people were getting preference in vaccination, we decided to make required arrangements. We pitched a tent at the Government High School for Boys and arranged fans. We have also been distributing tokens,” said Sandeep Goel, Barnala SSP. The district has recorded 212 Covid deaths and still has 429 active cases.
“The police are a big help in our endeavour to providing all possible facilities to Covid patients,” said Dr Jyoti Kaushal, Senior Medical Officer, Barnala.
