Ex-Panchayat Samiti chairman held for exploitation

A former chairman of the Panchayat Samiti at Padampur in Sriganganagar was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly exploiting a woman employee. He had vehemently denied the allegations levelled against him.
Padampur police station in charge Tejwant Singh said the victim had registered a case against Shingara Singh, who was a former chairman of the Panchayat Samiti, on October 7. He has been arrested on being found guilty during an investigation and would be produced in a court on Wednesday.
The victim alleged that she had been serving in the Panchayat Samiti office for the past four years, where Shingara Singh was the chairman. She said he allegedly took her to his home in Chak 24 BB village and raped her. Disturbed over the incident, she had blocked his mobile number, but he kept on harassing and exploiting her by threatening her of dire consequences, she alleged.
