Ex-sarpanch booked for sexual harassment

A former sarpanch with the alleged help of a woman Class IV employee allegedly tried to sexually harass a pharmacist when she was going back after her duty. The police have registered a case and started investigations. “We have registered a case against the accused – former Saparnch Bahadur Singh Maholi Kalan – and a Class IV employee for attempts to sexually harass a woman working in the village dispensary. We are conducting raids to arrest the accused,” said ASI Sukhwinder Singh, who is conducting investigations. TNS

Kang senior vice chief of Punjab Infotech

Yadwinder Singh Kang, son of former Congress minister Jagmohan Singh Kang, on Thursday took over as senior vice-chairman of Punjab Infotech at the office of Punjab Industries Department here. He was a contender for the Congress party ticket from Anandpur Sahib parliamentary seat. Jagmohan Kang, Cabinet ministers Sunder Sham Arora and Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, MPs Manish Tewari and Jasbir Singh Dimpa, and MLA Gurkirat Kotli were present on the occasion. TNS

Two drug smugglers nabbed, aide on the run

Two out of the three persons, who were named in an FIR under the NDPS Act on December 13, have been nabbed. The police said Gurpreet Singh Monu and Gurjinder Singh Sonu of Chak Balochan Mahalam village in Jalalabad had been arrested. A police team had intercepted a car and a bike on the Netewala-Kaluwala bypass, on December 13. The occupants had fled, leaving behind 64 kg of poppy husk. The police were able to nab Vikram Singh, alias Ravi, after chasing him. Now two of his accomplices have also been nabbed. OC
