Experts discuss impact of mass movements on culture

Eminent literary personalities dwelt on various aspects of mass movements and their impact on culture on the final day of People’s Literary Festival being held in Bathinda.
Dr Areet, one of the speakers at the event, in her address, said voices had been raised against capitalism lately. “The ruling dispensation has adopted tactics to suppress the farmers’ movement.”
Speaking on the topic ‘Politics of profitability and farmer movement’, Dr Anupma, another speaker, said, “Examples of western development models in agriculture are being cited, but unlike in India, the governments of those countries give hefty subsidies for sustenance and growth of the sector.”
