Faridkot cops rush to Ayodhya in search of sacrilege accused

A team of Faridkot police rushed to Ayodhya today after a prime accused and an absconder in the sacrilege incidents of 2015 was purportedly seen serving ‘langar’ to devotees during the consecration ceremony of Ram Temple.

- Pardeep Kaler was a member of national executive panel of Dera Sacha Sauda headed by Gurmeet Ram Rahim
- He has been on the run for eight years along with two other dera members Sandeep Bareta and Harsh Dhuri
- All three were declared POs in the Burj Jawahar Ke and Bargari sacrilege cases in 2020
In the pictures, being shared by a large number of people on social media platforms, Pardeep Kaler, the absconder in the eight-year-old sacrilege cases, is supposedly seen serving in the community kitchen along with some BJP leaders
in Ayodhya.
“On the basis of hearsay and exchange of some photos on social media, a team of Faridkot police has been sent to Ayodhya to verify the authenticity of the social media content and to take necessary action,” said Faridkot SSP Harjeet Singh.
Kaler was a member of the national executive committee of Dera Sacha Sauda headed by Gurmeet Ram Rahim. He has been absconding for the past eight years along with two other dera members Sandeep Bareta and Harsh Dhuri. All three were declared proclaimed offenders (POs) in the Burj Jawahar Ke and Bargari sacrilege cases in 2020.
The first case, pertaining to the theft of Guru Granth Sahib from a gurdwara at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala village was registered on June 1, 2015. The second case, relating to posting of two posters with derogatory remarks against the Sikh religion and Gurus at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala was registered on September 25, 2015. The third incident dates to October 12, 2015, when torn pages of Guru Granth Sahib were found outside a gurdwara at Bargari village. In all these cases, Kaler is a prime accused.
