A farmer protesting at the Khanauri border died due to health issues at the Rajindra hospital here on Tuesday.

According to officials, Karnail Singh, general secretary of Bharatiya Kisan Union Krantikari from village Arno Khurd near Patran died at the hospital due to alleged lungs damage.

Singh was protesting at Khanauri border on February 13, when he was hit by tear gas fumes.

He complained of difficulty in breathing and was admitted to Pattran Government Hospital and later referred to Rajindra Hospital, Patiala.

On Tuesday at around 3 am his condition deteriorated and he succumbed during the treatment.
