He said it was the Congress and state farmers who put up a strong resistance against the policy with massive protests.

“It is farmers and the Congress workers who deserve the credit. The BJP is trying to steal it,” he said asking the BJP leadership to spell out its contribution to making the government withdraw the policy.

The state Congress president also accused the BJP of “playing a fixed match with ruling AAP”, which he said was “trying to help it in making inroads into Punjab”.

Warring said the wounds that the BJP inflicted on Punjabi farmers during the anti-farm law protests five years ago were too fresh to be forgotten.

“No matter what sort of games they play, they stand exposed before the people of Punjab,” the state Congress chief added.
