A two-day training programme on post-harvest care and management of fruits and vegetables concluded today under the guidance of Amit Nath, Head of the Regional Centre of ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET). The event was coordinated by Dr Arvind Kumar Ahlawat, Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, along with scientist Dr Mahesh Kumar Samota and Prithvi Raj, Assistant Chief Technical Officer.

Participants were briefed on various techniques to reduce post-harvest crop losses, as well as methods for the proper storage of fruits and vegetables. The training also covered the facilities available to farmers at the Regional Centre in Abohar.

In addition, the participants were introduced to various products made from fruits and vegetables and the processes involved in their marketing. 210 participants from the Scheduled Caste community, hailing from different villages in Fazilka, attended the programme.
