Five officials, who had reached the spot based on satellite inputs, reportedly told farmer Ram Singh that he would face action for setting stubble on fire. Soon several farmers gathered there, and started raising slogans against the administration.

After two hours, officials left the place after giving a written assurance that no action would be taken in the case. A similar incident had occurred at Bhaini Bagha village in Mansa district on October 22. The farmers have been claiming that similar protests would continue until the government made adequate arrangements for stubble management. — TNS
